What is a Virtual Browser?

2/4/2020

A virtual browser, also known as a "web browser emulator" or "browser emulator," is a software program that simulates the functionality of a web browser. It allows a user to access and interact with websites as if they were using a real web browser, but with some differences.
A virtual browser can be used for a variety of purposes, such as:
  • Testing websites: Developers can use virtual browsers to test how a website looks and functions in different web browsers, without having to physically access those browsers.
  • Web scraping: Some virtual browsers are designed to automatically extract data from websites, which can be useful for data mining and analytics.
  • Privacy and security: Some virtual browsers can be used to access the internet anonymously or to bypass geo-restrictions on certain websites.
Examples of virtual browsers are Selenium, puppeteer, PhantomJS, and many more.
